Wild Hog Hunting

Hog SWAT

Two Nights in the Field:

A Hog Hunt with Zev

Hunting Wild Hogs at night is about patience, awareness, and learning how to move through the dark without giving yourself away. Guide Zev recently took a group of 3 Hunters out for a 2 Night Thermal Hog Hunt, and while the first night tested their persistence, the second night proved to be a lesson in both skill and success.

Night 1:

Tough Luck and Coyotes

The first night out, the Hogs were nowhere to be found. That’s the reality of Hog Hunting—some nights they’re out in force, and other nights they vanish like ghosts. To break up the slow night, we tried to set up on two separate Coyotes. But let’s just say… things didn’t go as planned. Between movement, positioning, and the learning curve of Night Hunting, things happen not how we planned.

Night 2:

Pigs Down and Lessons Learned

Pig Hunts In Georgia

With the frustration of night one behind them, the guys came back determined. It paid off early when we saw a Lone Pig, and success. But the real action came later in the night when we spotted a Sounder. This time, we moved better, stalked quieter, and moved without getting caught by Wild Hogs. When the moment came, they connected—one Pig Down from the group.

We did lots of walking. Moving through open fields during night isn’t the same as walking through the fields during the day. Every step has to be intentional, every movement controlled. By night two, they had it figured out.

In the end, two Wild Pigs took a nap, and these Hog Hunters walked away with more than just harvest—they left with a deeper understanding of the Thermal Hunt. And next time, those Coyotes might not be so lucky.

From Coyotes to Hogs:

A Three-Night Thermal Hunt with Guide Zev

Not every Hog Hunt goes as planned, but that’s what makes it exciting. Guide Zev recently led a 2 Night Hog Hunt for a group of three Hunters, and it turned into an adventure they won’t forget.

Night One:

When the Hogs Don’t Show, the Coyotes Will

The first night, the hunters covered ground, scanning field after field, but the Hogs weren’t moving. That’s when the hunt took an unexpected turn - a Coyote stepped into range.

Thermal Hog Hunt? Not quite. Predator Hunt? Absolutely.

If you’ve never Hunted Coyotes, you’re missing out. These fast, Elusive Predators make for an exciting challenge, and the Hog Hunters made the most of the opportunity. First success of the Hunting Trip.

Night Two:

Back on Track

With a Coyote but no Wild Hogs yet, night two was all about redemption. Guide Zev put in the work, adjusting tactics and covering new ground. Then, finally - Pigs on the move.

The Coyote Hunters wasted no time, and success a Wild Hog. Just like that, the hunt was back on track.

The Challenge of Thermal Hog Hunting

Hog Hunting with Thermal is one of the most exciting and challenging hunts you’ll find. Wild Hogs are smart, tough, and unpredictable. Some nights, they keep you guessing. Other nights, you’re right on top of them. That’s what makes it Thermal Hunting.

At Hog SWAT, we love seeing Families Hunt together. There’s something special about watching a father and his sons out in the field, learning the patience, discipline, and excitement that come with the Hunt. On a recent two-night Hunting Adventure, Guide Hank led a Father-son Hunting Trip on a Hog Hunt that was full of lessons, strategy, and — most importantly —success.

Night 1:

A Bonus Hog with No Dragging

The first night started strong with one Hog Down early on. The Hunters got a second chance, but it made a break for the woods. Just when they thought the night was over, another Pig popped up in the field on the way back to the van. Success agian. We’ll call that a win-win.

Night 2:

Quick Thinking, Quick Shooting

Baby Pigs

The second night started with a bit of luck. While driving past a field, Hank Spotted Pigs right by the road. Wasting no time, they turned around, pulled in, and set up behind the van for cover. Just as they were getting ready, a couple of passing vehicles lit them up with headlights - an unexpected obstacle, but the Wild Pigs didn’t bolt. The Hog Hunters had success two more Wild Hogs before the Sounder scattered.

Guide Hank led a group of eager Hunters on a 1 Night Hog Hunt at Hog SWAT. With a father and his two sons in tow, the Hunt promised to be an exciting adventure in the wilderness.

As the night unfolded, Guide Hank found himself doing a lot of walking, scouting the field for any signs of Wild Hogs. To his delight, the Pigs walked out in front of him, presenting the perfect opportunity for a successful Hog Hunt. Guide Luke had to think on his feet and sneak around the Swine to make his way back to the Hunting Van, where he prepared the Hunters for their mission.

With the Hunters ready and armed, Luke led them back out into the field and successfully took down a Pig. The group decided to call it a night after that, opting to rest up for their drive home in the morning. It was a night of great success for Guide Luke and his team, as they bonded over their shared love for hunting and the thrill of the chase.
