On a recent two-night Hunting Adventure, Guide Hank led a Father-son Hunting Trip on a Hog Hunt that was full of lessons, strategy, and — most importantly —success.

Night 1:

The first night started strong with one Hog Down early on. The Hunters got a second chance, but it made a break for the woods. Just when they thought the night was over, another Pig popped up in the field on the way back to the van. Success agian. We’ll call that a win-win.

The second night started with a bit of luck. While driving past a field, Hank Spotted Pigs right by the road. Wasting no time, they turned around, pulled in, and set up behind the van for cover. Just as they were getting ready, a couple of passing vehicles lit them up with headlights - an unexpected obstacle, but the Wild Pigs didn’t bolt. The Hog Hunters had success two more Wild Hogs before the Sounder scattered.

At Hog SWAT, every Night Thermal Hunt is unpredictable. Some nights, the Hogs cooperate. Other nights, Mother Nature and the wild have different plans. Guide Hank recently led a group of four Hunters on a 1 Night Guided Hunt, and while the Wild Hogs played hard to get, the night still ended with a big success - including an unexpected Predator Encounter.

The Hunt Begins:

Close Calls and Tough Breaks

The first stalk of the night looked promising, but the wind wasn’t in there favor. A sharp-nosed hog caught there scent and was gone before anything could happen. On the second stalk, the team managed to connect with a Pig, but it made it into the woods before we could recover it for a picture - an unfortunate but common reality in Wild Hog Hunting.

Third Stalk:

An Unlikely Guest Appears

By the third setup of the night, the Hog Hunters were locked in and ready to go. They had just about closed the distance on a group of pigs when, out of nowhere, a Bobcat decided to crash the party - spooking the hogs and taking their place in the field.

With the Wild Pigs gone, the group quickly shifted gears. Everyone was on board with the new plan on the predator, the bobcat had its picture taken. This wasn’t just any bobcat - it was a perfect specimen, and the Bobcat Hunters decided it would make an awesome mount to remember the Bobcat Hunt.

Great Success in the End

While the night didn’t go exactly as planned, that’s what makes Thermal Hunting so exciting. Wild Hogs may have been the target, but the unexpected Trophy Bobcat of the night turned out to be a Beautiful Bobcat, making for an Unforgettable Hunting Experience.

Hunting Wild Hogs requires patience, determination, and adaptability, and this past 2-Night Thermal Hog Hunt with Guide Hank proved just that! A dedicated repeat customer returned to Hog SWAT, ready for another thrilling adventure under the South Georgia night skies. Here’s how their Hog Hunt unfolded.

Night 1: Challenging Conditions

The first night began with high hopes as the team set out for some action-packed stalking. The conditions, however, were challenging, with shifting winds and a few near-misses. A Sounder was spotted at Dream Farm, but shifting winds gave the Hogs the upper hand. Later at Ben’s, the Hog Hunter managed a few shots, hitting at least one pig before the group scattered.

The night’s unexpected highlight came while driving to a new location. A Wild Hog appeared right in front of the van, providing a quick and unexpected opportunity. Hank swiftly set up the Hunter, and while the hog was hit, it ultimately evaded capture. Despite the challenges, spirits remained high, knowing the second night promised a fresh chance to succeed.

Night 2: Success Through Strategy

The second night brought renewed energy, and this time, persistence paid off. The first Wild Hog Stalk of the evening was disrupted by deer that spooked nearby Piggies. On the second stalk, the team spotted a Wild Pig from the van but initially had trouble locating it after taking a long route to approach undetected.

Just as they were preparing to call it a night, the Pig reappeared, offering the perfect opportunity. Hank and the hunter carefully waited for the right moment, ensuring the shot was well-executed. This time, the result was a successful harvest and smiles all around—a testament to patience and determination paying off.

Night 1: A Successful Start

As the sun dipped below the horizon on their first night, Hank positioned Jason and Trenton in a prime area known for its Hog Activity. Their patience paid off, and before long, the duo bagged a total of four Wild Hogs! It’s a testament to their skills as Top-Notch Shooters that they not only made accurate shots but also had the know-how to Field Dress their own Hogs.

Night 2: Stalking Success

As night fell for the second time, Jason and Trenton were eager to finish their Wild Hog Hunt on a high note. Hank had spotted a Big Boar and was confident they'd add to their impressive tally. However, as they stalked toward the Wild Boar, an unexpected Deer blew, scaring off their primary target and leading them on a chase.

But luck was on their side. Just as they thought the night was going to be a bust, another Wild Pig appeared in the field. With Hank's guidance, they quickly adapted their strategy and sneaked up on it. A well-placed shot later, and they had successfully added one more Hog to their collection!

The adventure kicked off as Guide Hank led the team to an area known for its active Pig Population. Anticipation ran high as they initially stalked a Sounder of Pigs — groups that typically indicate good Hunting opportunities. However, just as their excitement peaked, the Pigs vanished into the thick brush, leaving the Hunters momentarily at a loss.

But in the world of Hog Hunting, adaptability is key. Realizing the need for a change in strategy, Hank redirected the hunters to focus on a Solo Hog that was still traversing the area. Hog SWAT's Nighttime Hunt: A Test of Persistence

Guide Hank led a Thrilling 1 Night Hog Hunt for Hog SWAT, but it wasn't without its challenges. Despite the obstacles, Guide Hank's expertise and determination ultimately paid off.

The Hunt began with a promising Sighting of Pigs in a field just off the main road, but just as they were getting into position, a side-by-side came barreling down the road, making a ruckus and sending the Wild Pigs Scattering. Undeterred, Guide Hank regrouped his team and pressed on.

Later in the night, a thick fog rolled in, making it difficult to spot any more Hogs. But Guide Hank's experience and knowledge of the terrain eventually led him to a new group of Wild Hogs. However, they were stuck behind a pivot, limiting their shooting options to just one shot.

With precision and skill, the Hunters took aim and fired true, bringing down one impressive hog. Despite the setbacks and challenges, Guide Hank's persistence and expertise ultimately secured a Successful Hunt. As he reflected on the night's events, Guide Hank concluded: "It was a great success!"

It was a crazy and successful night with Jim and Roger. It started off with some unforeseeable minor issues when they were picked up, which led to them using a nearby field as a range to save time. After finishing the range sequence, a Sounder of Pigs was spotted just 6-700 yards out. They immediately started Hunting and only managed to kill one Pig due to a pivot behind it preventing further shots.

In the third field they checked, they found 5 Wild Hogs, but gunshots from a neighboring field scared them off. The Hogs had moved to another field behind the one they were on. Upon driving over to the other field, they found the Wild Pigs hiding in a low spot and managed to kill 2 Big Boars and injured a third that escaped into the woods.

The sixth and final field they pulled into was teeming with deer, over 100 of them. Upon closer inspection, they noticed 2 Wild Pigs mixed in with the deer. As they approached the Pigs, a deer started blowing at them, alerting the Pigs and causing them to move further away. After following the Hogs for about 100 yards, Jim and Roger took their shots and successfully killed both Wild Hogs, the two biggest of the night weighing over 200lbs each.

After taking some pictures, they encountered another minor issue but that didn't deter them. They eventually made it back home with a total of 5 pigs, despite the setbacks at the beginning and end of the hunt. We hope it was night of Hog Hunting that Jim and Roger will never forget.

2nd night started off slow. They found some Pigs but got screwed by the terrain and wind. That didn’t stop them because they kept looking until they snuck up on a group of Juvenile Pigs. They killed 4, and one of them was from Tyler with a ~300 Yard Snipe from a Hog on the run! It was already around 3am when they finished up. The last field they checked held a Sounder where the guys dropped 5 Wild Hogs. After Butchering and walking off the field I spotted a Solo Pig begging to be shot so we took a detour on the way to the Hunting Van and killed the last Wild Pig of the night topping the group off at a nice even 10 Pigs making it double digits!

They struggled to find Pigs the first 4 hours of the Hunt, checking multiple fields. They finally pulled into a field where they spotted 2 Hogs. They started walking towards the Wild Hogs and found a Sounder past a high spot. They were able to maneuver around the other Wild Pigs and get close enough to shoot at the group. The guys killed 3 pigs! On the way off the field there was another pig minding his own business so they dropped the bags of meat they just butchered, and walked right up to the Solo Pig and took it down with the cadence shot. They totaled 4 pigs for the night!

After overcoming a few slight delays, we ventured towards our swampy fields in eager anticipation of the Hunt. With utmost caution, we cautiously traversed the field and were thrilled to spot numerous Deer on our Thermals. However, our persistence paid off when we discovered a small Sounder nestled deep within the sorghum, hidden in a low spot.

Undeterred by the challenging conditions, which included traversing 750 yards of muddy terrain and navigating through noisy cut sorghum, we valiantly pursued our quarry. Skillfully setting up our Hunting Tripods in complete silence, we took aim at a magnificent Sow and her brood. The tension mounted as we counted down, "3, 2, BANG!" Suddenly, the Pigs darted away in a bewildering display of erratic movement, seemingly unsure of their destination.

With our prized catches secured, we remained alert and vigilant throughout our journey. Just as we were about to depart, fate smiled upon us, revealing a magnificent 200 lb Boar boasting menacing 2-inch Tusks. Torn between charging us or making a mad dash towards the tree line, the Boar hesitated, spinning in circles as we took aim. It was a decisive moment, and we made the daunting choice for him, swiftly ending his existence in the muddy ground.

In the end, our expedition proved to be an Unforgettable Boar Encounter filled with exhilarating moments. The thrill of the hunt was complemented by the delectable meats harvested, providing a truly Unique Hunting Adventure that will forever be etched in our memories. A group of seven men embarked on a Two-Night Hog Hunting Trip. On the first night, they had great success with one Wild Pig taken down early and four more from a Sounder later in the night. After a lengthy Stalk of 700 yards guided by Ben and Hank, they lined up and successfully mowed down several Wild Hogs. Last night, Guide Capt Ben took these group of guys out on a Guided Hog Hunt. Initially, the Pigs outsmarted us and escaped, but they didn't give up. They tried three more times and finally succeeded in taking down four Hogs. The result was nine bags of Hog Meat!

These gentlemen showed their savage side, determined to eliminate the sorghum-stealing Pigs. Despite the wind working against us throughout the night, they managed to accomplish their mission. We had another amazing Thermal Hog Hunt last night at Hog SWAT! Guide Luke (Hank) took Keegan the Gangster Hog Slayer and he brought his custom .308. Keegan flipped the first Hog on the run (solo) and right after setting it up for pictures, 2 more Wild Pigs had a death wish and emerged from the trees. Keegan lined them up and nailed both of them with one shot. Crazy!! The Wild Hog in the back started to limp away and Keegan finished it off by blowing its brains out. That was a zombie pig (brown and black) 100%. It did not want to die. Even after butchering it the Pig was still twitching. Overall Great Hog Hunt with Keegan. It was a long night of Hog Hunting last night. Struggling all night to find Pigs with Harry, Miguel, and Ethan all night. They stuck with it and ended up executing 2 Wild Hogs around 6am. By the time I was done butchering and dropping them off it was daylight. We are very happy Guide Luke found them some Hogs!
