Hunting Wild Hogs at night is about patience, awareness, and learning how to move through the dark without giving yourself away. Guide Zev recently took a group of 3 Hunters out for a 2 Night Thermal Hog Hunt, and while the first night tested their persistence, the second night proved to be a lesson in both skill and success.

Night 1:

Tough Luck and Coyotes

The first night out, the Hogs were nowhere to be found. That’s the reality of Hog Hunting—some nights they’re out in force, and other nights they vanish like ghosts. To break up the slow night, we tried to set up on two separate Coyotes. But let’s just say… things didn’t go as planned. Between movement, positioning, and the learning curve of Night Hunting, things happen not how we planned.

Night 2:

Pigs Down and Lessons Learned

With the frustration of night one behind them, the guys came back determined. It paid off early when we saw a Lone Pig, and success. But the real action came later in the night when we spotted a Sounder. This time, we moved better, stalked quieter, and moved without getting caught by Wild Hogs. When the moment came, they connected—one Pig Down from the group.

We did lots of walking. Moving through open fields during night isn’t the same as walking through the fields during the day. Every step has to be intentional, every movement controlled. By night two, they had it figured out.

In the end, two Wild Pigs took a nap, and these Hog Hunters walked away with more than just harvest—they left with a deeper understanding of the Thermal Hunt. And next time, those Coyotes might not be so lucky.

The night started slow, with fewer Hogs Moving than usual, but that didn’t put a damper on the Hunting Experience. With Thermal Equipment Scanning the Fields, we kept at it, sharing stories and plenty of laughs along the way. The wait paid off when a Big Boar finally presented itself. There was success.

Hunting Wild Hogs in South Georgia is always unpredictable, and for this group of four Hunters, their two-Night Hunting Adventure with Hog SWAT’s Guide Zev was no exception.

Night One:

A Slow Start

The first night started with what Zev called “darkness” no Wild Hogs, no success. Despite the late hour, the sky never seemed to fully darken. The first opportunity came when they spotted pigs at 400 yards, but the Sounder spooked before they could close the distance. After hours of searching, Zev finally picked up movement through the trees at 4 a.m. South of a known field, at least 40 Pigs were feeding - just out of reach. It was a frustrating sight, but the night ended without a picture.

Night Two:

Action Heats Up

The second night started slow, but persistence paid off. Around 11 p.m., the group had success a Lone Hog. Later, they spotted a Sounder moving toward the van. With the wind at their backs, Zev knew they had to move fast. He quickly got the Hog Hunters ready and led them into position, flanking the group before the pigs could catch their scent.

As the Sounder of Hogs spread out, two Hogs wandered right into their path and spotted them. There was no choice. One Piggy instantly, while the other took a hit and ran. The night took an unexpected turn when the Pro Hunters mistook a possum for a charging hog and took it down as well - adding an unusual Hunting Trophy to the night’s count.

The Thermal Hunt isn’t without its challenges, but every trip is a learning experience. Zev made it clear that field discipline is crucial.

Recently, Guide Hank led a group of five Hunters on a 2 Night Thermal Hog Hunt in South Georgia. With the fields primed and the gear dialed in, the stage was set for an Action-Packed Hunt.

Night One:

A Tough Start

Hunting Wild Hogs is never predictable, and the first night proved just that. The group got into position on what looked like a promising setup, but the unpredictable nature of the wild took over. Just as things were getting interesting, a few deer spooked nearby, sending the Wild Pigs scattering before anything could happen.

Not ones to be discouraged, the Hog Hunters pressed on. Later in the night, they spotted more hogs moving through a field, but before they could close the distance, the Wild Hogs disappeared into a patch of tall cotton - gone as quickly as they had appeared. Despite the challenges, the group stayed determined.

Night Two:

Never Back Down

After a tough first night, the pressure was on. When Max, the Owner of Hog SWAT, gives you a lead on where to find Pigs, you listen - and that’s exactly what Hank and his hunters did.

With renewed focus, the team set up in a field that had been holding Wild Pigs. This time, everything fell into place. They spotted a Group of 7 Hogs and moved in. When hank said 3,2… and Hogs Scattered. Multiple Pigs took hits, but only one - a Big Sow. Success.

Great Success in the End

The team found themselves constantly scaring away Pigs as they attempted to navigate the shining terrain.

Despite the difficulties posed by the bright snow, the group remained determined. After several attempts and adapting their strategy, they finally secured a shot on a Large Boar. After a patient wait, the group finally got on a group of Pigs around 3:30 am, marking a significant breakthrough in the Hunt. Last night's 1 Night Hog Hunt led by Guide Capt. Ben turned out to be a thrilling success! Venturing under the cover of darkness, our skilled Guide and his group encountered a pack of hefty boars. With precision and teamwork, they managed to harvest three big boars from the same group. The bounty was generous, providing a substantial amount of meat and marking the night as a triumphant outing. The excitement was palpable as each member of the party contributed to the successful hunt. It's experiences like these that make hunting with Guide Capt. Ben unforgettable.

On the first night of Hog Hunting in March for Hog SWAT led by Guide Capt Ben, a group of guys embarked on a Wild Hog Hunt in South Georgia. Despite a slow start to the evening, the team remained optimistic throughout the Hunt.

Setting up on six Hogs, they were only able to hit two Wild Hogs. However, Guide Capt Ben and the group persevered, checking various fields until they were exhausted. What started as a dull evening turned out to be a memorable experience for the Hunters, who demonstrated determination and teamwork in the face of unexpected challenges. The first field held a couple of nice-sized Boars. The Stalk was muddy and wet, but fortunately, the rain had given way. They closed to about 60 yards when we set up and fired a volley. Nailed ‘em! That was the easy part. Afterward, they dragged our pigs about 400 yards through the mud until they could finally hitch them to the Hog Van and get them to the Hog dump. Then proceeded onto a few more fields and didn’t find much luck. Eventually, at a large peanut field, they found 6 Smaller Pigs; however, the wind switched up on them and they got spooked. They headed down the road a bit and immediately saw about 20 Wild Pigs in a Large Sounder. As they got close, it became apparent that there were more like 50+ Hogs in a Mega Sounder! These Pigs had no idea what was coming, and we fed them lead. After the dust settled, our Hunters got exactly what they wanted: 8 Suckling Pigs for a total of 10 downed throughout the night!

The Pro Hunters are back at it agian! On thier 2nd night of the Hog Hunt ended in glory with 4 more Pigs and 2 Rabbits tonight making it a total of 8 for both Nights of Hog Hunting. They shot 3 Wild Hogs on the first go round and 1 more on the second. On the way off the field they saw some rabbits that were destroying the crops so we decided to take them too. Who knew this would turn into a Rabbit Hunt. On his recent expedition, he took these guys out on thier second Night of Hunting and they encountered a Handicapped Pig that they named peg leg, with a missing Hoof. Determined to turn his tripod stance into a bipod, they successfully took down peg leg.

But the excitement didn't end there. They spotted a Sounder of Pigs in a challenging location, just in front of a valuable pivot. With the risk of a costly mistake, they managed to fire some shots, hitting the Wild Hogs before they crossed over to the pivots, yet unfortunately, they managed to escape the field.

Great news! Two Wild Hogs has been taken down on the first night of their Two Night Hog Hunt. These Experienced Hunters had previously joined us in 2019, and we are thrilled that they returned for another fantastic Thermal Hunting adventure.

The action started picking up later in the night, at around 2 AM, when we spotted some Pigs. All four Hunters showcased their shooting skills, resulting in excellent shots.

Last night, Guide Capt Ben took these group of guys out on a Guided Hog Hunt. Initially, the Pigs outsmarted us and escaped, but they didn't give up. They tried three more times and finally succeeded in taking down four Hogs. The result was nine bags of Hog Meat!

These gentlemen showed their savage side, determined to eliminate the sorghum-stealing Pigs. Despite the wind working against us throughout the night, they managed to accomplish their mission.
